St. Paul’s Chapel

Location: Hong Kong
Year Completed: 2020

A Sailors’ Home was founded in Hong Kong in 1863 and was initially used by local Europeans residents and later to become the Seamen’s Church.

After many years usage by sailors and local community the chapel in Mariners’ Club needed a renovation to continue. Studio Amal was appointed to create a space with a simple look inspired by the sailing industry. This was achieved by curving the backdrop of the alter to reflect the ship and using natural oak wood throughout the space.
